Commodification of God

by | Mar 21, 2021 | Philosophy

God is just a commodity
For a good ol’ boy to use
Passed him down through history
Left the multitudes confused

God is just a commodity
A ploy to quell the masses
Toyin’ with our ego’s
With divisions. . . causin’ clashes

God is a commodity
With the force of law
Pinnin’; guilt where needed
Intimidatin’ all

Jesus it was said. . . was His Son
Born of a virgin birth
Explanations curbing rumors
Explaining Mary’s girth

The many myths and mysteries
Continue to this day
For those focused on paradise
And tithe their time away

The miracles that Jesus did
He said there’d be to follow
Greater in their mastery
But most we got are shallow

God is a commodity
But no product has the church
A scam that keeps on churning
As believers go in search

Jesus was the Son of God
As is ALL are, we
He tried to get the point across
But the church won’t let it be

Yes, God is a commodity
Paying dividends, a many
A free-ride on their taxes
A political voice ain’t any.

Linda Brady

Grandma Linda is a squigily peg in a square hole. Her poetry is aimed at moving the world to love, unity and perfect margaritas. And after years of perfecting the art, she has the skill to paint a better world and make it so.

When she is not serving customers, gazing at rocks, or visiting her grandchildren Linda is writing poetry. And even during all the above activities she has been known to write still.
