Conditional Listening

Ideas flooding in
To occupy my mind
It’s hard to sort them out
A starting point to find

The prejudice of language
Like a two-edged sword
One may hear you clearly
Another, no accord

‘Course, the words are incidental
As up-bringing has its sway
We hear through our conditioning
And awareness has its way

Been critical of religion
… A priest leading grandmas step
Anything outside of it
Showed up as inept.

So, the backdrop of our history
… a distraction, or a sin …
Till you rise above its limits
And observe it from within

The point to crystallize
Is how we slam the door
With ‘New Age’ talk
Or religious views we’ve stored

We introduce or nullify
Depending another’s stand
Creating or destroying
Three joining hand in hand {*1)

Linda Brady

Grandma Linda is a squigily peg in a square hole. Her poetry is aimed at moving the world to love, unity and perfect margaritas. And after years of perfecting the art, she has the skill to paint a better world and make it so.

When she is not serving customers, gazing at rocks, or visiting her grandchildren Linda is writing poetry. And even during all the above activities she has been known to write still.
