For Whom the Bell Tolls

by | Apr 6, 2021 | Philosophy

“Ask not for whom the bell tolls
For it tolls for thee”
John Donne left us this axiom
Pointing to the state we “Be”

In “Being” share ontology
A spirit incarnate
Call it karma, kismet, circumstance
But within it find our state

We impact the world around us
As it impacts us likewise too
Experience leaves its’ mark
Influencing what we chose

The media reaches inside us
Driving discontent
Comparing pecks with bushels
Because of image seen constant

Harvesting our energy
As we covet what we see
Entrapped by our own animus
Elevating the other, by degree

The-two percent have knowledge
Hold cards that we can’t see
Use our natures most against us
While proclaiming we are free.

Note 4/6/21: The was written in 2008. But as I prepared to publish it, I
thought about changing the ‘two percent’ to one percent. However, it
dawned on me that while the 1% hold the largest amount of fiat money, the
other 1% are the intellects and Think Tanks that generate the propaganda
that keep them in power, so I left it the way it was originally.

Linda Brady

Grandma Linda is a squigily peg in a square hole. Her poetry is aimed at moving the world to love, unity and perfect margaritas. And after years of perfecting the art, she has the skill to paint a better world and make it so.

When she is not serving customers, gazing at rocks, or visiting her grandchildren Linda is writing poetry. And even during all the above activities she has been known to write still.
