In this Period of Apostasy

In this period of apostasy
The reasons mount as many
One that’s chief among them
Rhetoric, discarded, as a penny

Truthfulness is a laser beam
With no static there attached
That emanates from Spirit
The world without its match

Politicians drone their well-worn song
Unfettered by nutrition
They hold we stand behind them
Through votes, have gained permission

The second cause that numbered
Distractions that we face
Chasing money down the road
At such a frantic pace

The standards that we call our own
Assigned by each commercial
Extinguishes our daylight
Requiring no rehearsal

Third we find our interests
As we link with other minds:
Baseball, paintball, racing
Or fashion as designed.

Fourth, might be among them
Health for us and ours
Doctor bills and medicine
And faded belly scars.

Domination by distraction
As natural as each breath
It takes us living consciously
To reach and keep our depth

Linda Brady

Grandma Linda is a squigily peg in a square hole. Her poetry is aimed at moving the world to love, unity and perfect margaritas. And after years of perfecting the art, she has the skill to paint a better world and make it so.

When she is not serving customers, gazing at rocks, or visiting her grandchildren Linda is writing poetry. And even during all the above activities she has been known to write still.
