If meditation releases stress
As the mantras brought to ore
Would likewise releasing strangers *(1)
Bring energy the more? *(2)
During waking moments
When consciousness is clear
Letting go of boundaries*(3)
Means letting go of fear
Footnotes:
*(1) The process of meditation, or mindfulness is to allow a person to
relieve stress and thereby gain more energy. In the process, you sit in a
chair quietly, feet on the floor with your eyes closed. A mantra that has
been used for eons is ‘OM’. I’m not sure if there is significance to the
actual mantra. My understanding is the mantra is just used as a focusing
tool. As you sit with your eyes closed, you begin to think the mantra.
The tendency is for the mind to wander. As it does so, it is an indication
of stress release. The goal is to gently bring the mind back to the mantra
and let go of the thought that cropped up. The nature of the thought is not
important. This is just an exercise to train the mind.
Stuart Wilde said in one of his CD’s that we have two to three hundred
thouand thoughts in the subconscious that do not serve us. Self-talk, for
example, that tries to convince us that we’re probably not going to make
it, to meet a goal, to have love or whatever it is. Meditation then, helps
to clear out those self deprecating ideas that would help to perpetuate our
failures.
By strangers, in the line, I’m referring to those seeds of thought that are
not inherently part of our own inherent nature.
*(2) . . .“Bring energy the more?” I think I was reaching for a rhyme
here. The structure is bad, but bring more energy is the point.
When we think of energy, we think generally about energy in terms of our
physical body. But, it’s different than that. Stuart Wilde speaks of the
subtle body or the etheric body. . . essentially the aura. As we clear out
the stresses, we shift our energy field and attract different things into
our lives; different people, jobs, opportunities, stuff, etc.
*(3) “Letting go of boundaries. . . “ We have a tendency to operate within
a comfort zone. Through meditation the restrictions placed on us by what
we’ve always held as ‘just the way it is’ gets lifted. The path to move
forward becomes clearer; and sometimes the energy available would demand
movement.
