Each moment passing by me
Brings the last one to an end
The next one, if I’m lucky
Lets me chose it all again
Time, it is a river
Steadily flowing on
For its’ course to change direction
Will require a force upon
I am the river flowing
Content and unassailed
Get rocked back and angry
When the storms of life prevail
My banks go overflowing
The levies lose their fight
But the table God has set for me
Is available each night
He sent His Son, so long ago
To take me by the hand
The Bible holds the Truth of it
It was the Holy Spirit’s plan
As I take my Book and read it
Angels whisper overhead
Explaining what each passage means
Dissolving any sense of dread
The fear that overcame me
Sloughs like old dead skin
My breathing deepens easily
And I’m ready to begin again.
Yes, time is like a river
Quantitatively defined
But God is the ocean
Beyond the boundary of time
