Spiritual Capitalism

A toaster, TV, car
a lamp, house or shed
Anything can be sold for money
a catalyst for getting ahead

Religion does it with guilt
God wanting at least 10 percent T
The government doing it by law
timeliness penalties prevent

Money, a concept we honor
everything having a price
Spirit enters the picture (* 1)
each growing to wanting a slice

“Find a hole and fill it”
an axiom accepted through time
Explore, produce, exploit
the ego having a mind

Legend and lore holds title (*2)
imprinting the Unified Field (*3)
Exploiters use this advantage (* 4)
francs, pesos and dollars it yields.

Energy, an element basic
the earth, each person, a rock
With it, action is varied
without it marooned on the dock.

Philosophy’s given us meaning
religion, morals provide
Money provides insulation
behind it evil can hide.

Your prices are outlandish
the books you write are a fraud (* 5)
Aimed at creating a market
your nature wants others applaud

A salesman first and foremost
bent on making a dime
The goal to maximize profits
not improve the ‘now’ paradigm

If conditions were central, important
seeing them vastly improve (*6)
Access and education promotion
would be your primary move

Your destination, a ‘one-percenter'(*7)
the ranks of the wealthy, a goal
Using your wit and wisdom …
a diamond devolving to coal.

(* 1) Refers to spirit being born into the world and becoming inculcated by
the parameters of human value.

(*2) This includes the ideas that we have about religion; but is not
exclusive to it. Any of the ideas we have about the characteristics of
minerals is also included.

(*3) The Unified Field is all-inclusive. It represents the collective
unconscious and creative intelligence, some would call it God.

(*4) Advertising is aimed at us individually; but as momentum gathers it
takes on a quantum effect, affecting more than the sum of the total
believers. This is how trends are created. The pet rock syndrome, if you
will.

(*5) I’m not actually suggesting that what you write doesn’t have truth to
it; but it ‘feels’ like your purpose for writing is to help add value to
that which you have to sell. In one of your writings you talk about trying
to find a market for the jewelry you designed around the appearance of
Haley’s Comet. It didn’t sound like you had much success, then you ran into
someone who began to educate you as to the spiritual characteristics of the
mineral kingdom, which you then began to capitalize on, hence my conclusion.

(*6) Referring back to current conditions.

(*7) According to an article in The Nation, October 28, 2013, pg 20
Renovating the American Dream, 400 individuals in the United States own
more wealth than the bottom 180 million Americans taken together. This
group is the one I’d refer to as the ‘one-percenters’.

[Note 4/3/21] This poem was aimed at a guy who sold minerals. Various
minerals are said to have particular spiritual characteristics, when used,
worn or in your personal space have the ability to support spiritual
development. Whether any of that is true or not is anyone’s guess.
Perhaps there is a Quantum Physical link, whereby our belief in such
creates the effect rather than the particular mineral.

Regardless of whether the crystal creates the effect or we do through our
belief in the process, the poem address this guy, not just trying to ‘hock
his wares’ but hi-lights the fact that he’s written books to induce
psychological behavior that would have people part with their money for his
product on behalf of the propaganda he generates to do it.

Linda Brady

Grandma Linda is a squigily peg in a square hole. Her poetry is aimed at moving the world to love, unity and perfect margaritas. And after years of perfecting the art, she has the skill to paint a better world and make it so.

When she is not serving customers, gazing at rocks, or visiting her grandchildren Linda is writing poetry. And even during all the above activities she has been known to write still.
