Another hill to climb
Another cross to bear
Circumstance demands of us
A willingness to share
The ‘Hate Crime Bill’s’ another
In a long line of attacks
Put in law for one thing
While it takes a freedom back
Freedom of speech is guaranteed
Constitutionally ascribed
A right for which our fathers fought
And why many young men died.
Now we have in Congress
A Bill to circumvent our rights
Harnessing our opinions
As our words might cause a fight.
This Bill seems quite innocuous
As innocent as can be
Think-tanks, spinning words around
To confuse both you and me.
If a crime has been committed
That can link to what you’ve said
An accessory to the crime you are
Convicted by the intention in your head
A look back into history
A not-too-distant past
Decisions they have made for us
A shadow grimly cast
First, they took the jobs away
With treaties of free trade
And moved those at home around
With incentive zones they laid
Companies that went abroad
Dirty up the air
The EPA is impotent
No one seems to care
Fossil fuels are melting ice *1
Never as before
But no actions being taken
What else can be in store
Controls on fossil fuel pollution
Unpracticed in other nations
But, here, at home in the USA
High prices our salvation.
The job losses re-stratified
The economy we’ve known
Discretionary spending
Comes with a high-priced loan.
Health care sold-out
Companies bought cheap
HMO’s with lists of ills
Have a bottom line to keep.
Lawsuits, as reported
Drove cost of treatment high
So, a quarter million limit
For malpractice, ‘less you die.
The little guy, that’s you and me
Lacking organization
Allows us to be trampled
Through lawful legislation.
The laws made, should protect us
Not be an anvil overhead
Voicing our concerns
Should not be a point of dread
With all of this, the latest blow
A stifled voice to come
Congress doesn’t work for us
Plus, they think we’re dumb.
Well, Jesus was a warrior
Tackling issues of the day
Faced-off money-changers
And swiftly had His say.
To the degree it is we follow Him
Being pulled within His wake
Our commitment should empower us
In view of what’s at stake.
Divide and conquer is the method
That commonly gets used
One group pitted against another
Everyone is systematically abused.
While we fight among ourselves
And get distracted through our play
Humpty-Dumpty lay in pieces
And is denied another day.
So, denominations, now, unite
As well as those without
Stand up for our freedoms
Or attacks will surely mount.
A Wal Mart world’s not good enough
Since they’ve taken most our gains
Union jobs and benefits
And left us grunts and strains.
We need to stand in concert
To government abuse
Individuals acting solely
There’s really not much use
‘Politics,’ a dirty word
Most have closed their ears
Yet, things will only worsen
And, to pass, will come our fears
In a Constitutional Republic
Constituents have a voice
But it takes each one to use it
If we want to have a choice.
Yes, the think tanks work overtime
Spin doctoring what we hear
Catch-phrases become fulcrums
‘stead of being directly clear.
So, call Senators and Reps
Be willing to have your say
Let them know your ‘druthers’
Don’t just let it go, and pray.
God works through all of us
As forefathers brought to bare
No expiration date on our freedoms
A note to Congress dare
Find yourself a paper
Now with a pen in hand
Have your say in cursive
And the courage for a stand.
Or, conversely, use your telephone
While your voice is free
Have them log your ‘want too’s’
As likewise, did it me.

*1 We’ve been told that oil is the product of fossils which turns out to
be untrue.
As you can see by my leaning toward the idea of ‘Green’ I had succumbed to
the media narratives that are attempting to get us to surrender our lives
to them within the confines of ‘The Green New Deal. The Paris Accord is
allegedly another way to funnel money that has no trail in addition to
controlling the entire structure of our future.
