If, as Einstein said, “Energy follows the path of least resistance,”
perhaps we impede its flow by willfully wanting what’s not ours.
The act of coveting something outside our experience is to resist our
experience. We’re saying, unconsciously, “This isn’t it.”
A slightly different view of the term “free will” is to release it.
Our children, with their insatiable demands are like funhouse mirrors into
ourselves, having never ending wants for something they don’t have.
One last thought, to indicate how willfully we actually are, one of the
last legitimized acts we carry out on earth is to maintain control in
death, historically carving out our Last Will and Testament.
